It's time

I wanted to dedicate this post to three watch models that I was pleasantly surprised by: I do not usually like the classic men's watches and I myself do not wear watches on the wrist, but I found three products that I was really amazed by their originality and good taste.

The first, very vintage looking and simple, is the watch designed by Indian Prasanna Sankhe for HYPHEN: the leather strap and case with a classic design make it a watch suitable for all ages, that is on the arm of a the young man of twenty or of your favorite uncle of fifty.
The thing that sets him apart from all the other watches on the market, however, is the humorous press numbers on the dial: a 'ish' (in English, adding this suffix to the word gives it a meaning of 'almost' or 'more or less ': so nine-ish means ' almost nine o'clock or so ') at the end of 3, 9, 6 and 12 in fact joked that in the era of digital watches 'Who is left who can read analog clocks?'.

This watch instead I found in the temporary shop Full Spot while waiting for the connecting train to the Roma Termini station to return home, and I fell in love immediately: I have always had a huge passion for pocket watches and finally someone thought of revisit in a much more modern way.
In fact, playing with the colors of hypoallergenic and water-resistant silicone, the company has created a simple and modern design, suitable for young and fashion-conscious audiences.
It had enchanted me at first glance, but being a product made & DESIGNED in Italy and from a company that uses eco-friendly materials, can only enhance the quality and appeal of the product (which costs only € 29, making this watch a perfect christmas gift * wink wink *)

Here I put some colors that I like from the collection, especially the third and second.

The last watch is definitely my favorite of the three (although it is a tough fight), or at least what would be most often on my wrist.

Designed by computer graphics pioneer Daniel Will-Harris, the clock for sale at the MoMA was created for a project for the designing watches in which they are invited designers and architects around the world: the mechanical clock that reads time as a digital has the philosophy, in fact, to think only of the present. So, obscuring all numbers that do not need to read the time and the slim design, simple and elegant make it suitable for any occasion, especially if you only need a quick peek to know the exact time.

Obviously of the colors available I prefer the black, red and blue monochrome.

Rollo

Lovers of tobacco: rolling is a whim and a pleasure.

Nowadays, smoking cigarettes has become a pleasure lot harder to enjoy: thanks to crisis, a package is become more and more expensive and by law you can only smoke outside. In addition, smoking is bad, but for those who really can not stop, buy tobacco and 'roll' a cigarette alone is a less poisonous way than the ones full of oil mixtures that are on the market.
Smoking is a way to enjoy the day or at least to calm down for the short time that it is enough in the chaos of every day, so what is a better than sitting down for a coffee and a roll one?
But if smoking is pleasurable, why it can't be also tobacco carries?

Recently I discovered this company that produces functional and beautiful tobacco carries, leather and pvc, all handmade made in Italy.

'Rollo' is structured by a pocket for tobacco, one for cigarette paper, a lighter central holder and a separate pocket for filters with velcro closure.

They come in different colors, different materials and with the possibility to request them in two different sizes: small (for tobacco from 10 to 25 grams, size 14 cm) and standard (for tobacco from 40 to 50 grams, size 17 cm).

My favorite? The Rollo green PVC and leather: it has character, it's unique and above all it is a nice alternative to the usual fashion leather or fabric tobacco carries.

Among the many models available, here are the ones I like best:

In addition to a great product, very special is the graphics that accompanies it: in fact, the logo is a little man, Rollo, which transform himself with each new model created. To promote it, the company invites young creatives or even fans to bring their version of the logo, and the winner gets a tobacco carrier free.

Basically an excellent product made in Italy, functional and fashionable, great gift idea for non-smokers (like me for exemple): for info and contact, the shop link here.

To tie a tie...

'Sabrina, could you help me to knot the tie?'
It's always this phrase that haunt me when we have to go to some formal event, often revealing my brother in front of the mirror with a distressed look.
And it is not the only one: more and more often there are men and boys who have difficulty to understand and remember how to tie a tie.

Personally, I have always been very attracted to this accessory and often watched fascinated my father sure and trained gestures knotting the tie around his neck at the mirror: in fact he was the one who taught me how to achieve a simple knot, when I wanted to wear it myself.
My father, like many older men, has lived in an era where wearing a tie was not an 'optional' or a formal accessory as it is today, where the majority of adolescents do not wear them if not for ceremonies and prefer to have the neck free from the grip of cloth.

With the arrival of the 'urban' style, the tie was set a little aside and with the passage of time, even in places where it's compulsory, its presence is significantly lower in the warmer months of the year: but fortunately, this accessory has never disappeared in the male wardrobe, making it an important part in the structure of the male dress.

And even if is cute getting help by his girlfriend / wife / sister / friend to knot a tie, a man who knows how to tie the knot by himself is even more charming, showing how to be independent and an adult (released by that stage where the children are 'getting dressed' from their mothers, a bit like being able to tie your own shoelaces by yourselves).
The knots that can be made on a normal tie are about 85, but in the image below are the most popular with diagrams on how to get them.

If you do not have time to learn and want to change the knot of your tie quickly, anywhere, here's a nice free application for iphone, android and blackberry: 'How to tie a tie' is in fact an application that guides you step by step no the knotting of the tie, with animation showing the steps to take.
